Senior projects

We have mentored 7 students for their senior projects to date.  For students who wish to explore American Sign Language for their senior project, we will have two choices starting in the summer of 2010.

1)  Students take a level 1 course with a class.  Students do two signed presentations.  The second one will be recorded on DVD with an audio tape voicing what is being signed.  The regular fee for level 1 is reduced to $25.00 for the nine-week, 18 hour course.  Students must attend a minimum of 8 weeks  - 16 hours - to receive a certificate of completion.

2)  Students are given a reading assignment that discusses the start of deaf education in America and how American Sign Language got its start.  They produce a paper on what they have learned and answer follow up questions.  The reading, paper and time for discussion and questions will equal at least 15 hours.  Students may do their project in the summer (July/August), fall (Oct - Dec), winter (Jan - March) or spring (March to May).

Students may apply at any time.
