ASL for beginners on Zoom – for homeschoolers
9 hour course ( Course HS 1:01)
Students will learn from the following vocabulary groups: colors, animals, food and drinks, family, some verbs and professions.
They will learn the manual alphabet and numbers 1 – 99.
They will learn to use this vocabulary in simple sentences and produce a short, scripted story.
After completing this course, students may continue on and complete the Level 1 course (18 hours total)

18 hour course – Level 1 (Course HS 1:01/1:02):
Students will learn the manual alphabet/fingerspelling; numbers 1 – 99; 14 colors; animals; food and drink; family; verbs and professions and feelings. There will be extensive practice using this vocabulary in sentences. They will produce 2 scripted stories using the vocabulary they have learned in class. They will learn about the start of Deaf education in America, the birth of a new language – our modern ASL and the forming of the Deaf community.
HS 1:01
Each class is 45 minutes and meets for 12 weeks.
